DEMETER is participating in IoT Week 2022 taking place in Dublin, Ireland from June 20 -23rd. The IoT Week conference gathers industry and academia representatives from around the world with 135 sessions taking place across various sectors. In particular, DEMETER is heavily involved in several of the Smart Agrifood sessions focused on Digitisation from farm to fork.
Three separate workshops are running on Thursday 23rd June.

Smart Agrifood Tech for Sustainable Development Goals – Discuss with experts on how technology can help reaching the ambitious European goals for a sustainable agrifood sector by 2030 .
Grainne Dilleen, PhD Researcher at Walton and funded by DEMETER will give an overview of her research on farmers’ technology adoption decisions and share results from The Farmer Voice survey from the H2020 DEMETER project regarding the drivers and barriers to tech adoption.

Accelerating innovation with an interconnected ecosystem – Learn about results and activities from large scale agrifood tech projects to grow an interconnected ecosystem of DIHs, Test Farms, Accelerators, Investors, Corporates and startups
This session is chaired by Kevin Doolin, Project Coordinator of DEMETER. In addition, Dave Hearne, Senior UX Designer at Walton and of DEMETER will focus on the importance of engaging farmers and will discuss the need for a multi-actor approach when developing innovative solutions.

Enabling data exchange in agrifood – Discuss and learn about data marketplaces, data models, standards, data governance and business models for data monetization
This session is chaired by Marianno Navarro of DEMETER and Tragsa. Kevin Doolin will present an overview of Europe’s strategic plan for Agri DataSpaces, and Walton’s plan to support. Ioanna Roussaki of National Technical University of Athens will present an overview of the DEMETER Agricultural Information Model and the importance of interoperability. Ethan Clearly of IFA will discuss farmers’ concerns about data recording and data ownership.
